				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <a href="http://www.aaas.org/">American Association for the Advancement of Science</a> has announced the finalists for their 2013 book awards, and How To Raise Monarch Butterflies:  A Step-by-Step Guide for Kids is up for the <a href="http://www.sbfonline.com/Subaru/Pages/2013FinalistsHandsOn.aspx">Hands-on Science Award</a>. This is awarded to a book which &#8220;promotes science literacy by showcasing the importance of good science writing that promotes inquiry and hands-on learning.&#8221; You can see the full judging criteria and list of nominees at the link above.</p>
<p>Founded in 1848, AAAS serves some 261 affiliated societies and academies of science, serving 10 million individuals. Their publication &#8211; Science &#8211; has the largest paid circulation of any peer-reviewed general science journal in the world, with an estimated total readership of one million.</p>
